The Ministry of THE BIBLE Baptist Church of DeLand, Florida, and
Pastor James W. Knox

About this web site

Why We're Here

The Internet, like just about every other inanimate object in this world, is neither good nor bad. It is what we do with it that makes it good or bad. The Web has opened up a new frontier in The Great Commission to spread The Gospel. This site represents our effort to do just that.

James W. Knox

James W. Knox was born February 26, 1958 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He grew up in New Smyrna Beach, Florida where he graduated high school in 1976. Over the next three years he earned degrees in English and journalism from the state university system of Florida, graduating with honors in 1978 and 1979.

He received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior on December 17, 1976 and began to preach the word of God in November of the following year.

Brother James is the founding pastor of THE BIBLE Baptist Church (1987) of Deland, Florida, USA. The brothers and sisters in Christ at The BBC prayerfully distribute cassette recorded sermons and Bible studies to 109 countries, with 1.3 million units having been sent out since 1988. In addition to the tape ministry, dozens of book titles in print, many of which are being translated into numerous languages, enable this ministry to be of instruction and encouragement to untold numbers around the world.

We would ask you to remember Brother James with the words of Romans 15:30:
Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me.

The Preaching of The Cross radio program

The Preaching of The Cross radio broadcast began in 1981 with Brother James and Alfred Stephens taking turns at the mike for a Sunday morning half hour on WCCZ in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. They agreed to never use one minute of air time to solicit funds, trusting God to provide all that was needed to pay for air time. The program became a daily one in 1991 on WYND in DeLand, Florida. Since that time many new stations have been added to the roster but two things remain the same – thirty minutes of straight Bible teaching and no appeals for money.

We copyright the material to

1. Keep people from altering the content
2. Prevent people from using someone else’s labor for their own financial gain

Anyone may copy our tapes or reprint our books as long as they do not alter the content in any way and as long as the copies have our name and address on them so that people who want more of our materials know where to get them.

You do not need written permission to reproduce our materials as long as you are not going to sell the reproductions for more than the cost of production and shipping.

The only exception is the music tapes and CDs. We ask that people not duplicate them but get additional copies from us because

Web Site History

The jamesknox.com web site was originally created by Linda Avery, who also created LA-Expressions (a line of products featuring your favorite verses from the Authorized (King James) version of The Bible, and items promoting Home Schooling). God blessed her with a new baby, so in May 2003, this site was passed along to Stephen McGehee, who has a bit more available time. If you would like to contact Linda directly, you can email her.

The site was completely rebuilt using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and re-launched on December 15, 2005. The site is maintained by Steve and Laura McGehee.

Technical Information

Audio files are now recorded directly to a CD. The files are then downloaded onto a computer and edited using Adobe Audition software. Editing primarily consists of trimming the start and end to get only the main sermon, "normalizing" the volume, and then "hiss reduction" if needed. The edited file is then saved to a "Voice preset" mp3 setting and processed at 32Kbps / 44,100 Hz / Mono / 22.1:1. The files are uploaded using FTP Explorer software. The web site is maintained using Dreamweaver MX 2004 on a computer with a cable modem Internet connection. Web site hosting is through Hostcentric.

Links Policy

This web site does not include a links page to other web sites. We take seriously the responsibility to teach straight from The Bible. Since we have no control over the content of other sites, and do not have the time to study the doctrine on other web sites, we decided that simply not having a links page is the best course for us to take. There are a number of excellent Bible-Believers sites on the web, and we encourage you to visit them; however, we will not have links from this web site. If your web policy is different, and you would like to include a link to jamesknox.com, we would certainly welcome that, but we cannot provide a reciprocal link.
